Prayers
For
People

There are so many people that deserve prayer – friends, workers, heroines, heroes and more. In a world where human negativity is too often highlighted, it is great to know that most people are not only good, but deserve thanks for being who they are, and what they do.

In Praise of Sea-Loving Visitors

Look back, look back
What do you see?
Adventurers on horseback
Pale travellers with luggage
Descending from carriages
Dusty and green
Searching for lovers
Rooms and guest houses
All of them… All
In search of The Sea

Penny Farthing loonies
Vintage car fans
Stinking and pinking
Spluttering, blinking
Visitors all
In search of the sea

Shiny young mods
On souped up new scooters
Mirrors and hooters
Jolly fat rockers
Leather-clad angels
Side cars escorted
Tattoos and floozies
Gamblers, boozies
All are most welcome
That long for the sea

Trippers in third class
With coins on the pier
Sharing cockles and winkles
And candy floss laughter
A spin on the ghost train
And later a beer

But the First Class
Are different
It’s tea at The Grand
Or cocktails at five
They sit and they stand
While the orchestra tinkles
Such twinkly jingles
Notes of nostalgia
Float out to the sea

Welcome visitors straight or gay
Jedis, students, those that pray
In churches, synagogues and mosques
And tourists visiting The Dome
And don’t forget our spiritual home
The crazy Royal Pavilion

Welcome later, welcome now
Visitors guests… please take a bow
You’re here because you feel so free
You’re here, because you love the sea!
